Anna Jay materialized out of thin air to become one of AEW’s home-grown stars, a Nightmare Factory student who earned a contract on the back of being shockingly competent for a wrestler with less than t0 matches when she first did extra work for the company early in the COVID-19 pandemic. During her time there, she hit it off with fellow home-grown star “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, with Perry and Jay going public as a couple in June 2021, though they’ve rarely been linked on TV in AEW canon. On Monday, though, she appeared on USA Today’s “Under the Ring” podcast, where she chimed in with her prediction for her boyfriend’s shot at MJF’s AEW World Championship in the “four pillars four-way” a week from this Sunday at Double or Nothing.

“Well, this is hard to say, because I’m in [the Jericho Appreciation Society and] we’ve got Sammy Guevara, [an] incredible talent,” she explained. “Then we’ve got Jungle Boy, who, obviously, I am rooting for behind the scenes a little bit. But then you have the obvious [winner], MJF. I don’t really see him losing this, but you never know. I’m pulling for someone else, but it’ll be a great match regardless.”

Jay mentioned later that she’s always been a Chris Jericho fan, which made her experience being added to the JAS particularly surreal. “I just never thought I would meet him, let alone get to work with him and be in a faction with him, so it’s been really cool,” she noted, also adding that Matt Menard is to the JAS as John Silver was to her in the Dark Order, the one who always makes her laugh.

Double or Nothing takes place on May 28 in Las Vegas; it airs on traditional pay-per-view and Bleacher Report Live in the U.S. and is available in most of the world on FITE TV.

MJF is considered one of the hottest acts in all of professional wrestling currently and is receiving praise from many critics. During a recent episode of “Wrestling with Freddie”, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. had plenty of praise to give for MJF’s promo with William Regal on the October 19 episode of “AEW Dynamite”.

“It’s MJF, and everybody else is after that,” Prinze Jr. stated. “The stories this kid is telling at 26-years-old are unbelievable. I mean, it’s so good. Everything is based in reality[…] He’s not a heel or a babyface. He is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and he is completely unique to everyone else in this business right now. Nobody can touch him. Watch what this kid does.”

Prinze Jr. talked about how Jim Cornette labeled MJF’s angle with Regal his “super villain origin story.” Prinze Jr. said MJF’s story about how he didn’t hear good news from Regal after participating in a WWE tryout was “so personal and touching,” and he thought it was interesting that the crowd couldn’t help but cheer for him.

MJF is currently slated to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship in the main event of AEW Full Gear. Prinze Jr. has little doubt about who should win that bout on November 19.

“I don’t know how they’re going to end this story, but he has a match with the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. So, I am certain MJF beats Jon Moxley at the pay-per-view. But I am in love with this young man. This dude is awesome. I will blow smoke up his ass every single week on this podcast.”

Booker T is predicting that “WWE Smackdown” star Sheamus will someday join him as an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Speaking on “The Hall of Fame” podcast, the six-time world champion praised the Irish-born wrestler as someone who “has always been in my fave five,” noting how his focus makes him stand out within WWE.

“He’s a worker,” Booker said. “He’s not one of those guys that [is] just looking to be at the top of the guard. He’s a soldier and soldiers normally find their way to the top of the card.”

Booker also highlighted how Sheamus can switch wrestling personas with ease.

“As of late, he’s been able to change his character,” he continued, noting Sheamus’ latest incarnation as the “Irish pub drinking man with his boys hanging out whatnot. Sometimes when you’re in the business you’ve got to be able to shift gears for a second.”

While Booker admitted he was “one of the guys who wanted to see the “Celtic Warrior” again,” he nonetheless considered Sheamus to be a wrestler who “can actually go out there and have those matches with a Drew McIntyre, another big guy, [and] go to another big guy.”

Booker predicted this is “going to be the year of the heavyweight” and added that he loves “seeing Sheamus go out there [and] perform at this level. And, then again, I love what he tried to do also by switching his character and giving me some entertainment for a minute as well.”

Montreal Alouettes’ owner Gary Stern has developed a reputation for making bold declarations on Twitter and this week was no exception as he expressed his belief that his team will defeat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.

Game against Winnipeg coming up fast . No one gives us a chance I sincerely believe , we are at home , we have the talent , coaches installed great systems , we will win this game . @MiltStegallTSN @MattDuniganTSN @DavisSanchez don’t write this team off .

Stern tagged a number of CFL on TSN panelists in his tweet, which was likely a reference to Milt Stegall’s guarantee that the Ottawa Redblacks would beat the Alouettes in Week 7. Montreal ended up winning the game 40-33, causing Stegall to eat crow on local radio.

When a fan of the Blue Bombers reminded Stern that Winnipeg will take full advantage of any mistakes the Alouettes make on Thursday, the owner expressed his respect for the reigning Grey Cup champions while proudly defending his team.

No question , they a great team , no question, we going to have to play almost perfect football . But that’s all doable . Look for an alouette victory !!

The Alouettes are coming off a 24-17 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats that dropped them to 2-5 on the season and a tie for second place in the East Division. They remain only two points behind the Toronto Argonauts (3-3) for first place in the standings, though the Boatmen have a game in hand.

Winnipeg is coming off a 35-28 victory over the Calgary Stampeders in which they played near-perfect football. The club is off to their first 8-0 start since 1960 and have won 16 consecutive meaningful regular-season games dating back to last season.

One thing working to Montreal’s advantage is that the Blue Bombers are coming off a short week. Winnipeg will have to play at Percival Molson Stadium on only four days of rest and their ninth consecutive week without a bye.

If the Alouettes pull off the upset over Winnipeg, Stern will look like a genius for making his bold prediction. If not, Stern will have to ask Stegall for the best way to prepare fresh crow.

Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem believes Draymond Green crossed a line recently when he predicted the Golden State Warriors would face the Boston Celtics in the Finals.

“Draymond broke the code,” Haslem told Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes following the Heat’s 111-103 Game 6 victory Friday. “You ain’t supposed to say some shit like that. That’s disrespectful. He knows better than that.”

Green’s remarks came during Thursday’s “Inside the NBA” broadcast. The former Defensive Player of the Year didn’t initially provide a team when asked who he’d like to square off against in the championship series. However, Green budged when co-host Shaquille O’Neal pressed him for a concrete answer.

“He let Shaq peer-pressure him into saying some shit he ain’t got no business saying,” Haslem said. “I didn’t sleep much after he said that. That was some bullshit.”

The Heat prevailed on the road in the thrilling Game 6 showdown behind Jimmy Butler‘s massive 47-point effort. Before leaving the court, Haslem told the ESPN broadcast crew to tell Green “thank you for the inspiration.”

Miami can set up a Finals date against Golden State with a victory at home Sunday. Boston has won the past two meetings in South Beach.

Tyron Woodley is expecting a relatively quick night at the office when he faces Jake Paul in August.

The former UFC welterweight champion predicted last week that he’ll finish the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the third round of their scheduled eight-round boxing match.

“I think three,” Woodley told Michael Bisping’s “Believe You Me” podcast, according to MMA Fighting’s Jed Meshew. “First round sounds cocky, sounds dope, but I just know that if I’m fighting Tyron Woodley, everyone is going to tell him to cover up, weather the storm, clinch him, grab him, keep him away from you, stay at distance, watch out for the right hand. I’ve got to set a couple traps so I may need a round or two to set some traps, see what he responds to. I think (in the) third round, I should be able to clean up the deal.”

Paul is set to welcome Woodley to the boxing ring after the former champ parted ways with the UFC earlier in 2021 following his fourth straight loss. Paul is 3-0 as a professional boxer, with his most notable win coming against Woodley’s friend and teammate Ben Askren in April.

Although Woodley is the slight underdog, the 39-year-old thinks Paul’s team is setting up the internet personality for disaster.

“His people are gassing him up that he can win,” Woodley said. “He accepted this fight, and I was very surprised he accepted this fight. They’re gassing him up and they’re giving him that, ‘You’ve got the power. He’s old. He ain’t won a fight (in) a million years.’ … They’re lying to this kid and they’re going to get him fucked up.

“So, what’s going to happen is, I’m going to beat him, I’m going knock him out, and hopefully it’s not too bad where he doesn’t want to do it again because I want to take the money again. I want to rob the bank twice.”

Woodley mentioned a fight with Jake’s older brother, fellow YouTube star-turned-boxer Logan Paul, as a possibility once he beats Jake on Aug. 28.

“I really don’t have smoke with his brother Logan but shit, after he sees what I do to his brother, he might want to get the hands too.”

Ryan O’Reilly didn’t say, “I guarantee,” but the St. Louis Blues captain clearly believes his team will upset the NHL’s top squad in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“It’s exciting for us,” O’Reilly said Thursday night. “We know we can beat this team and do some damage here.”

“We know that they have a lot of talent over there and they work hard, but for us, it’s an exciting challenge,” the Blues star added. “We’re going have some fun and we’re going to beat them.”

The Avalanche clinched the Presidents’ Trophy to claim the NHL’s best record with a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Colorado scored the most goals per game and surrendered the third-fewest per contest in 2021 while authoring the NHL’s second-best goal differential. The Avalanche also led the league in goals for percentage at five-on-five and expected goals for percentage in the same situations, according to Natural Stat Trick.

O’Reilly, who played his first six seasons with Colorado, led the Blues with 24 goals and ranked second with 30 assists while playing all 56 games this season. St. Louis named him captain in December following Alex Pietrangelo‘s departure in October.

The Avalanche finished atop the West Division with a 39-13-4 record, while the Blues finished fourth at 27-20-9.

Colorado won five of the eight meetings between the clubs during the regular season, though St. Louis won the last two, both on home ice.

Game 1 of their first-round series is scheduled for Monday night in Denver.
