Maryse Mizanin — wife of WWE star Mike “The Miz” Mizanin — has announced on social media that she is tumor-free. Two weeks ago, the former WWE Divas Champion visited the hospital to have her abdominal lymph nodes removed and to undergo hysterectomy surgery. The lymph node procedure was to see if the rare pre-cancer found in her ovaries had spread, and it was ultimately determined that it had not.

Despite the positive news, Mizanin did reveal she was diagnosed with “Primary Peritoneal Serous Borderline Tumors with involvement of ovaries/uterus/tubes.” According to Mizanin, that rare condition affects seven women out of a million per year in the United States. She said in her social media post that doctors had managed to find her condition at a manageable stage, which has ultimately saved her life. Regarding her next steps, Mizanin wrote, “Next, I will continue to rest following my surgery and then will follow up with specialists at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.” Mizanin also thanked everyone for their overwhelming support, and encouraged other women to be their own advocates and to always trust themselves.

Since Mizanin posted her medical update, various wrestling personalities have shown their support on social media, including AEW’s most recent recruit, Mercedes Mone, who replied, “Keep healing. You’re amazing.” Meanwhile, WWE star Kofi Kingston wrote, “Let’s goooo! Such great news!” The last time WWE fans saw Mizanin in action was at Royal Rumble 2022, when she and Miz tasted defeat against Adam “Edge” Copeland and Beth Phoenix. Outside of WWE, Mizanin and her husband starred in the “Miz & Mrs.” reality series between 2018 and 2022.

Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb had surgery Wednesday to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, a season-ending injury he sustained in Week 2 at Pittsburgh.

This was Chubb’s second procedure on the knee since he got hurt when he was hit low on a running play against the Steelers on Sept. 18. The Browns had hoped his injury wasn’t as severe, but during an initial surgery, it was discovered he had torn his ACL. They believe the second surgery was a success.

The Browns expect the 27-year-old Chubb, who worked his way back from an injury to the same knee while at Georgia, will be back at some point in the 2024 season.

Team physician Dr. James Voos did both operations on Chubb’s knee. The Browns said Voos reported that Chubb’s recovery has “progressed very well” since his initial surgery two months ago.

Chubb’s injury happened when he was slammed from the side near the goal line by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first half of a Monday night matchup. Chubb was carted from the field in tears as players from both teams looked on.

Losing the four-time Pro Bowler appeared to be a blow to the Browns (6-3). But Cleveland has been able to keep its strong running game going behind backs Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt, who was re-signed two days after Chubb went down.

Cleveland hosts Pittsburgh (6-3) this week in a game with major AFC North implications.

Aaron Rodgers is doing everything possible to keep the door open on a playoff return.

The New York Jets quarterback underwent an innovative surgery on his torn left Achilles that could possibly get him back on the field faster than expected, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report.

Rodgers had an Achilles “speed bridge,” which involves an internal brace being placed on the ailment in the procedure. The alternative surgery was created with the intention that athletes could return from a torn Achilles in roughly four months, Rapoport and Pelissero add. However, the procedure does not guarantee a faster recovery, and Rodgers’ age and rehab will also be a factor.

There is reportedly also the possibility that the veteran gets platelet-rich plasma injections.

Rodgers left the door open on a possible playoff return earlier this week, stating “anything’s possible” during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” He also alluded to the fact that his rehab plan would “shock” people.

“There’s a lot of different ideas about the overall length of the rehab,” Rodgers said Friday. “I think what I like to say is just because somebody hasn’t ever done it a certain way doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Definitely some odds stacked against me based on age, but I like it.”

The 39-year-old tore his Achilles just four snaps into his highly anticipated Jets debut on Monday night. The Jets turned to Zach Wilson in the prime-time victory over the Buffalo Bills.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced on his Instagram Stories Thursday night that he had surgery to repair his torn left Achilles tendon on Wednesday.

The post includes a picture of a smiling Rodgers in a blue medical cap and gown in a hospital bed with his left foot clearly bruised.

Rodgers said the surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, an orthopedic surgeon based in Los Angeles who has worked with numerous professional athletes during his career.

“Surgery went great yesterday,” Rodgers wrote. “Thank you for all the love and prayers and support. And thanks to the (goat emoji) Dr ElAtrrache and his staff for starting me on the road to recovery.”

Rodgers is out for the season after tearing his Achilles tendon on the fourth snap of his debut with his new team Monday night, a 22-16 overtime victory over Buffalo.

The 39-year-old quarterback posted Wednesday on Instagram in his first public comments that he was “completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions” after the injury. He added: “The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again.”

Rodgers is also facing a long, arduous recovery and rehabilitation from the injury. But his post Wednesday appeared to indicate he might not be ready to call it a career.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Rodgers was going for some medical consultations to determine his next step. It turned out the four-time MVP had surgery later that day.

Saleh said he “would be shocked” if Rodgers ended his playing career that way. Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, a close friends of Rodgers, echoed that sentiment Thursday.

“Oh, yeah,” Hackett said. “Whenever Aaron has his mind set on something, good luck to anyone that wants to change his mind.”

Zach Wilson is replacing Rodgers as the starting quarterback and will be under center for the Jets’ game Sunday against the Cowboys in Dallas.

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey underwent a full meniscus repair procedure Friday and will be sidelined until December, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Ramsey would undergo knee surgery on his meniscus injury Friday but said the exact timeline of his return wouldn’t be determined until after the procedure, per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques.

Ramsey was carted to the locker room with a leg injury during Thursday’s training camp practice, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. He was evaluated by trainers after grabbing his left knee following a play that had him defending receiver Tyreek Hill.

The six-time Pro Bowl corner tried to remain on the field following the play but went to the sideline after feeling his left knee, Wolfe notes.

Ramsey addressed his injury Thursday on social media.

The Dolphins acquired Ramsey in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this offseason. He’s collected 19 interceptions since coming into the league as the No. 5 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Miami’s cornerback depth chart still features four-time Pro Bowler Xavien Howard, Kader Kohou, and 2023 second-round pick Cam Smith, among others.

Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Quinn underwent surgery Wednesday to repair an Achilles tendon injury he suffered during offseason training, reports Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams confirmed the injury but offered no timeline for Quinn to return, per Bill Hoppe of the Times Herald.

However, Friedman reported that Quinn will miss the start of the 2023-24 campaign as a result of the injury. Friedman also noted that the typical recovery timeline is four-to-six months.

Quinn recorded 14 goals and 23 assists in 75 games during his rookie season in 2022-23. The 21-year-old also had a successful showing with Canada at the World Championship, producing seven points in 10 games en route to a gold medal.

The Sabres drafted Quinn eighth overall in 2020.

When Thunder Rosa was unable to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship last August due to a back injury, many assumed that “La Mera Mera” would be returning to the ring imminently, since Toni Storm was crowned the interim champion after winning a grueling four-way match at All Out. However, Rosa would ultimately relinquish the title after Full Gear and has been on a rocky road to recovery ever since. And with the latest update on her condition, it seems that journey isn’t over yet. In an interview with AdFreeShows, the former champion revealed that despite doing everything she could to avoid it, her severe injury may now require surgery.

“It’s been really dark,” she said. “Especially when you think you’re making steps to coming back to the ring and the pain does not leave your body. I’ve done pretty much everything to avoid certain things that you don’t want to do like surgery, but [there are] talks of having to have surgery … Some weeks it’s been very, very dark, and I just feel like I’m never gonna wrestle again, and some other weeks, things are going really well. But when I get in the ring, [that’s when] it’s not well, and you have to be realistic.”

Luckily, Rosa has been able to participate in wrestling in new ways during her time away from the ring. Working as a producer and a Spanish language commentator, in addition to being a critic as a co-host of “Busted Open Radio,” she has learned so much in a backstage role at AEW. That said, Rosa told AFS she doesn’t “feel the same rush that you feel when you’re in the ring” in her new positions.

All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor star Eddie Kingston will be having hernia surgery this Tuesday, May 9, according to JJ Williams of F4Wonline. Kingston had told the crowd in Orlando, Florida during Sunday’s Ring of Honor TV tapings that he was going to have the surgery and that he should be out for around six weeks.

Kingston had opened up about his hernia injury last month while on an episode of “ROH on HonorClub.” He had revealed that he was dealing with the injury since September 2022. News about Kingston first being injured came to light after he was originally going to be part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Collision in Philadelphia event on April 16, but was replaced instead by AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy. His last NJPW match was against current AEW star Jay White on February 18 at NJPW Battle In the Valley in San Jose, California. Kingston won that match.

Kingston last wrestled on March 31 at ROH Supercard of Honor, where he was close to winning the ROH World Championship from Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli. While on the other hand, his last AEW match was the March 1 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” where he was part of the Face of the Revolution Ladder match. The winner of the ladder match ended up being former AEW TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs. As noted, after the match, “The Mad King” had given a promo, where he had said that he “quit” AEW over his “frustrations with the AEW management.”

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy plans to undergo elbow surgery on Feb. 22 to repair his torn UCL, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The procedure will allow Purdy to return for training camp in late July, Rapoport added. The rookie signal-caller – who suffered the injury in the NFC title game – reportedly sought a second medical opinion to avoid Tommy John surgery, which requires a significantly longer recovery time.

The final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy established himself as a household name after taking over as San Franciso’s starter following injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.

With Garoppolo expected to leave as a free agent, the 49ers are planning to roll with Purdy and Lance as their top two quarterbacks in 2023.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan said last week that he’s heard Purdy will be “the same dude and ready to go” after six months.

Meanwhile, Lance should be cleared for organized team activities in May after needing two ankle surgeries.

Shanahan wouldn’t say if San Francisco will hold a battle between Purdy and Lance, who entered the 2022 campaign as the club’s starter.

One of the members of The Kingdom has to take a momentary step down to address some health issues. As announced today on her Instagram, Maria Kanellis will be sidelined for two weeks while she recovers from a medical procedure. “Today I am getting thyroid surgery to remove half my thyroid which includes a nodule,” she wrote. “I’ve been have symptoms for the past 2 and a half years. Heart racing, trouble with weight loss, skin changes, exhaustion, mood changes, sore throat, anxiety, period changes, raspy voice, trouble swallowing, brain fog, calcium deficiency, amongst others. But, with having 2 kids, the Pandemic, and multiple times being fired I just didn’t have the time to really focus on it.”

Upon learning that she acquired “abnormal cells” that could turn cancerous and possibly result in atrial fibrillation — an irregular, often rapid, heartbeat that can cause poor blood flow — Kanellis decided to finally take care of the issue. With the “full support” of AEW and boss Tony Khan, Kanellis will soon undergo her surgery, with a plan to return to work in two weeks without any restrictions. Kanellis also showed off her pre-thyroid surgery scar, where the incision will be made. For her hormones to balance, Kanellis noted that will take about a year to recuperate from.

Prior to her surgery, Kanellis was seen as the onscreen manager for husband Mike Bennett and Matt Taven after The Kingdom joined AEW in October 2022.  Kanellis previously noted that the less-demanding AEW schedule swayed her to sign with the company, as it works best for her family.
