WWE legend John Cena might have unknowingly helped an eight-year-old boy save his sister’s life.

According to WNEP, Jaxson Dempsey used a technique he saw demonstrated by Cena on an episode of  Nickelodeon’s The Substitute to help his sister from choking.

While speaking to Amanda Eustice, Dempsey recounted the incident from last week when his sister started choking from a chicken nugget.

“We were driving to my haircut, and I noticed she was starting to choke from a chicken nugget from McDonald’s,” he said. “I told my dad to pull over. Then I was starting to pat her back, and it got out.”

Jaxson said he learned how to perform CPR from watching Cena’s TV show.

“It’s called The Substitute on Nickelodeon, and in the very first episode, John Cena was on it, and in the last part, he showed how to save someone when they’re choking,” added Jaxson.

Matt Dempsey, the father of Jaxson, said he was thankful for his son’s quick thinking.

“If I was by myself and Jaxson wasn’t with me, and I stopped and gave her a chicken nugget, I couldn’t hear her because she was choking. She wasn’t coughing; she wasn’t panicking. She just had no air going through; she wasn’t breathing,” Dempsey said. ” Thank God Jaxson was there because, without him, I don’t know if Lelia would be here.”

Cena, a 16-time World Champion, has been lauded by mainstream media for his work with Make-A-Wish. He holds the record for the most wishes granted by a single individual, at over 650 wishes.

Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Chase Edmonds has a plan for how to spend a good chunk of his $452,359 signing bonus after agreeing to a $3.6-million deal on May 12.

Edmonds wrote in a school assignment as a child that he wants to make it to the NFL and then pay off his sister’s student loans, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. He remained committed to his goal after being chosen with the 134th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

“My sister has some student debt so I really want to pay that off for her,” Edmonds said roughly two weeks after the draft.

His sister, Morgan, fulfilled an undergrad at NC State and earned a master’s in counseling at Arizona State. Edmonds’ mother, Alison, told him his sister’s loans total $80,000, for which she makes monthly payments of $360 to $380.

The numbers came as a surprise to Edmonds, who attended Fordham on a scholarship.

“When you’re on full scholarship you don’t realize these bills,” he said. “These things add up. When my mom told me Morgan’s debt at the time, I said, ‘Wow. If I ever can make it to the NFL that’s something that I would love to do, just to surprise her and pay that off for her so she can really live free and do whatever she wants with her money.'”

Morgan received texts from friends after Chase’s comments, though he’s yet to tell her himself. The two are both hoping to avoid a teary interaction when he does.

“I don’t need a reaction from Morgan,” Chase said. “It’s a token of me telling her how much I love her, how much I appreciate everything that she’s done in my 22 years of life.”

LeBron James and Isaiah Thomas shared a special moment after Game 5.

The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar gave the Boston Celtics point guard a big hug after eliminating his team from the playoffs. It was the first time they’d seen each other since Thomas exited Game 2 with a hip injury and proceeded to miss the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Thomas showed incredible courage and resilience in the postseason, playing through grief after his younger sister Chyna was killed in a car crash.

James, who sent his condolences to IT and his family at the time, was hoping to speak to the fellow All-Star in person when their teams matched up in the East Finals.

“Throughout the series we didn’t get an opportunity to actually have that moment,” the 32-year-old told reporters following Thursday’s series-clinching 135-102 victory.

“I know I said a few things in the media about the situation he was going through, but I was happy to see him. Just give him a big hug from myself and my family.

“Just how tough and determined the guy is, and to be able to go through the situation he was going through on a day-to-day basis, still being focused and maintaining his focus for the team – family is everything, and basketball comes second after family, and to see him perform the way he was performing throughout the playoffs under the circumstances was a treat to watch. A lot more words were said, but that’s the gist of it.”

Thomas led the C’s with 23.3 points and 6.7 dimes in 15 playoff games.
