Seth Rollins is your new WWE United States Champion, dethroning Bobby Lashley on Raw Monday night.

Rollins’ win was not without controversy, as he goaded a seriously wounded Lashley into the match after the then-champ had been assaulted by a returning Brock Lesnar. Lashley was being escorted away from the ringside area by medical personnel when Seth grabbed the mic and started taunting him.

The Visionary hit on the right insult when he attacked Lashley’s patriotism as a former soldier, which led the US champ to return to the ring and demand the scheduled match be started. Bobby survived a Pedigree and frog splash before landing a spear, but he soon fell to a couple of stomps, ending his three-month title reign.

For Rollins, this marks his first singles title in nearly three years, with his second Universal Championship reign ending at Crown Jewel 2019 to… Bray Wyatt. It’s his first title of any kind since March 2020, when he and Murphy lost the Raw Tag Team Championship to the Street Profits.

Already, Rollins has a potential challenger lined up, with Mustafa Ali tweeting a photo from last week’s Raw where Seth stomped him on the floor after attacking Lashley.

Bobby Lashley just dropped some hints that The Hurt Business could be set for a reunion on WWE TV sometime soon.

The reigning United States Champ told Ryan Satin’s ‘Out Of Character’ podcast that he’s ready to pitch a fresh storyline to WWE that’d turn MVP babyface. According to Lashley, it’d be cool if Porter’s influence made current client Omos “too dangerous”.

Then, unable to “contain” the monster any longer, MVP would turn to Bobby and ask for his help. That, eventually, would lead to both Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander rallying around their old stablemates to help stop Omos from wrecking shop.

Interesting.

WWE did try a Hurt Business reunion in 2021, but it was a flop. Creatively, Vince McMahon just didn’t seem interested in the idea – he obviously agreed to try it, but both Shelton and Cedric were treated like complete afterthoughts before yet another split.

Could one more reunion be on the cards for THB? Lashley is talking about it publicly, and he thinks fans would love to see a babyface run for the quartet. Basically, this is one to keep an eye on.

Bobby Lashley has admitted that he was left disappointed following his match vs. Brock Lesnar at January’s Royal Rumble supershow.

The current United States Champion thought WWE could’ve done a much better job of making the showdown feel “bigger”. Lashley told Ryan Satin’s ‘Out Of Character’ show that there’s “unfinished business” between he and Brock, and that he’d like to put things right before both retire from the ring.

Whether or not he gets that chance is up to company creative.

If WWE does approach Bobby about working with Lesnar again, then he’d want to take charge of the situation and make sure it’s done properly. Lashley wants “that Rocky story” – he’s pictured training vignettes (like the ones WWE used for Brock’s SummerSlam 2002 bout with The Rock) for each side, and at least six-eight weeks of hype.

The Rumble match came around too quickly for Bob to properly sink his teeth in and get fans invested. He doesn’t think it was a bad showing by any means, but he knows they could do better with more time and build.

Bring on a sequel later this year.

A new United States Champion was crowned during the WWE Money In The Bank premium live event.

Bobby Lashley defeated Theory via submission to become the new United States Champion.

This win marks Lashley’s third United States Title reign. Lashley first held the title from May 2006 to July 2006. His second reign was from August 2020 to February 2021.

Before losing tonight, Theory had held the title since the April 18 episode of “RAW.” He had defeated Finn Balor to become the champion.

With Bobby Lashley last night removed from the titular men’s match at WWE Elimination Chamber due to a kayfabe “concussion”, many presumed that this was done to protect the All Mighty from taking a loss as Brock Lesnar regained the WWE Title. In reality, Bobby may soon be going under the knife.

For those who missed it at Elimination Chamber, Lashley didn’t get the chance to defend his WWE Championship due to Seth Rollins powerbombing Austin Theory through the powerhouse’s Chamber pod while Bobby was still in it. Storyline-wise, the WWE announce team pushed how the impact of having Theory land on him caused Lashley to hit his head on the Chamber structure – and thus, he was taken to the back and kept out of the contest due to “concussion protocol”.

In an update, former WWE writer Kazeem Famuyide detailed on The Ringer Wrestling Show how Lashley is actually dealing with a genuine shoulder issue that requires surgery.

“I have it under good authority that Bobby Lashley is shoot hurt and has been hurt since the Rumble match. If you noticed, he hasn’t worked any Raws. He hasn’t really defended his title. He was shoot hurt at the Lesnar [match] at the Rumble. Again, I was wondering how they were going to work him in there while being hurt. I’m assuming this concussion protocol thing is the way to get him out there.”

Famuyide continued:

“From what I’m told, it’s for at least four months. Shoulder surgery. I’m hearing that he might not even make it to ‘Mania. From what I’m told he is shoot hurt and should be out for some time.”

In terms of WrestleMania 38, that takes place on 2 and 3 April this year, meaning that Lashley would for sure be missing the 2022 Showcase of the Immortals if indeed he requires shoulder surgery that’s to put him on the shelf for four months.

As for the WWE Title held by Bobby going into the Elimination Chamber premium live event, that’s now held by Brock Lesnar after the Beast Incarnate pinned Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Riddle and Austin Theory to become the new WWE Champion and set up a Champion vs. Champion battle against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38.

Brock Lesnar outlasted former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley as well as Austin Theory, AJ Styles, Riddle and Seth Rollins to win the Raw brand’s top strap for the seventh time and tee up a Champion Vs Champion match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38.

‘The Beast’ decimated the entire field apart from ‘The All-Mighty’, who was taken out of the contest due to an injury sustained while in his pod at the hands of a Seth Rollins buckle bomb on Austin Theory into plexi-glass and onto Lashley’s prone frame.

Lesnar entered last in the absence of the Champion and tore through each man with F5s, concluding with one off the top of a Chamber pod on to a Theory that had previously tried to escape from a small hole in the roof.

Brock’s path of rage represented just about the only element of promised chaos from either Chamber match, and delivered a Title-For-Title encounter with ‘The Tribal Chief’ WWE have been speaking into existence for the last few weeks. A ‘Show Of Shows’ match graphic confirmed the inevitable, with the bout set to be the first time both belts have been up for grabs since the 2016 brand split.

Bobby Lashley is your new WWE Champion.

Tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble event saw Lashley capture the gold by defeating Brock Lesnar.

The finish to Lashley vs. Lesnar saw the referee take a bump and go down right before Lesnar was about to put Lashley away. Lesnar hit the F5 and went for the pin but there was no referee to count. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns then hit the ring and laid Lesnar out with a Spear. Reigns stared out at Paul Heyman, and Heyman ended up handing him the WWE Title belt. Reigns then delivered a belt shot to Lesnar’s face, and exited the ring as the referee woke back up. Reigns and Heyman left the ring area together, all smiles, while Lashley crawled over and covered Lesnar for the title change.

This is Lashley’s second reign with the WWE Title. Lesnar began his sixth reign with the title back on January 1 at WWE Day 1 by winning a Fatal 5 Way over Lashley, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and former champion Big E. Lesnar held the title for 27 days.

Reigns retained his title over Seth Rollins earlier in the night. The match ended in a DQ after Reigns failed to break a submission hold when the referee made his 5 count.

The consistently reliable scoopsters over at Fightful Select broke some big news overnight: Goldberg is scheduled to return to WWE and challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2021.

That was the plan “as of today,” wrote Sean Ross Sapp.

It’s not quite the big dream match Lashley has long held – that would be a big fight opposite Brock Lesnar – but it’s a show of faith in Lashley, all the same. He is scheduled to defend the title against Kofi Kingston at Sunday’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view in a match Kofi’s superb work has done well to plunge into a shred of doubt. This news would appear to confirm that Kofi has mastered the art of the anti-job face.

In addition to helping WWE with the self-imposed curfew – WWE has promised fans a definitive endpoint to allow them to make the Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr. fight down the road – this presumably short match represents another chance for Goldberg to redeem himself. He has tainted his aura (if not his drawing power) by entering dismal efforts opposite The Undertaker and The Fiend in recent years.

A short, explosive spear-fest not too dissimilar to the excellent WrestleMania 33 sprint would do said aura no harm.

Lana posted a video on her YouTube channel with Bobby Lashley, her current love interest on WWE TV. During their conversation, the two spoke about the comments they receive online since their storyline started up of Lana leaving Rusev for Lashley.

Lashley noted the story has brought them a lot of “heat” from people, some have apparently gone as far as writing him death threats.

“There’s a lot of comments, a lot of this, a lot of that, but most of my comments are ‘When are you and Brock going to fight each other?'” Lashley began. “No matter what I post, people are like, ‘Where’s Lana? Where’s Lana?’

“I get very, very bad comments, ones I don’t want to say on camera right now. Vulgar, death threats, there’s a lot of things—but, ya know, I’m not a hard person to find and if anybody has anything to say about me, they can just come and see me. Not saying I’m going to fight every fan that disapproves of what we’re doing, but I’m not going to back down to stupidity.”

Lana also noted people’s comments to her aren’t much better.

“I get really, really mean, horrible comments,” Lana said. “People say horrible words to me. They’re really, really mean. By the way, they’re bullies, don’t bully people.”

Bobby Lashley mounted an ahead-of-schedule return to WWE Raw last night – and nobody could have predicted the way the writers would choose to bring him back.

Rusev, who recently mounted his own WWE comeback, was quizzed on the whereabouts of his wife, Lana, earlier in the evening, offering only a deflated look in response. This led to a double-return angle in his main event against Universal Champion Seth Rollins, with Lashley’s music provoking the distraction and Lana’s drawing an even bigger one. Then, to Rusev’s dismay and the audience’s bemusement, they locked lips at the top of the ramp.

And not that it really matters, but Rusev vs. Rollins went to a no-contest when The Fiend destroyed the Universal Champion. Nobody’s talking about that, though. Lashley and Lana owns all the headlines, and for good reason: where the hell did this come from?!

A more pertinent question might be “what did poor Rusev do to deserve such an angle?”. It’s an odd one for sure, but at least ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ has fellow cuckoldry victim Mike Kanellis to console with.
