WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently spoke with Joseph Staszewski of The New York Post and issued his first public comments on the latest DUI arrest of his cousin, SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso.

As noted, Jimmy was arrested on July 5 for his second DUI charge in two years and his third alcohol-related arrest in two years. You can click here for the latest on the arrest with full details. Uso remained on WWE TV in a top storyline with Reigns, and even won the SmackDown Tag Team Titles with brother Jey Uso a few weeks later.

Reigns told The Post that he loves his family but he does not “condone that kind of be behavior or decision-making.”

Reigns called the arrest “not a great light to be shining” on his family or the company. It was noted that Reigns chose to handle the situation in a positive way. He called the first post-arrest conversation with Jimmy a “mental checkup” to make sure he was OK.

“We’re all human, we’re all cynics, we all make mistakes,” Reigns said. “Instead of what some people might feel you should give up on somebody or maybe turn your back on that type of behavior, that’s one way to do it. But I don’t think that’s the way to push through and gain experience or make progressive movements of becoming a better man or a better human.

“So for me, it was diving into it with great attention, great love and very thorough communication to make sure my family is continually bettering themselves and putting themselves in a position to make better decisions.”

The Usos are set to defend their titles against Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio at WWE SummerSlam on Saturday in Las Vegas. Reigns will headline the pay-per-view by defending his strap against John Cena.

This past Monday night in Pensacola, Florida, Jimmy Uso was arrested again for a DUI after being stopped by police for running a red light while also speeding. Uso failed sobriety tests and ended up spending a night in jail before getting bailed out the next morning.

Reports initially came out that no action was taken by WWE against Jimmy for his arrest, although some higher-ups were reportedly “extremely disappointed and legitimately pissed off.”

On Friday’s SmackDown, Jimmy actually was first shown on the show — and he appeared throughout SmackDown — indicating WWE decided not to take swift action against him.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, it was reported there were plans that are too important to adjust and that’s why there doesn’t seem to be fallout from what happened with Jimmy. Dave Meltzer was told “nothing’s happening” at the moment in regards to a fine or suspension.

Meltzer speculated since Jimmy is involved in a major angle that could include The Rock at WrestleMania, WWE doesn’t want to make waves as they head toward a potential match between WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Rock.

Next year’s WrestleMania is on April 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. WrestleMania 39 is set for SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on April 2, 2023.

High-ranking WWE officials are “legitimately pissed off” with Jimmy Uso following the SmackDown wrestler’s latest arrest, reports WrestleVotes.

WrestleVotes consulted with two sources on the matter. Per the report, several “high level people in power” are angry at the situation, saying that Uso’s latest arrest cannot be put down to a mistake or bad luck, but poor personal judgment.

TMZ reported on Tuesday that Uso had been pulled over, given sobriety tests, and arrested after doing 50 MPH in a 35 MPH zone in Pensacola, Florida, on Monday evening. The 35-year-old was taken into custody when his blood alcohol content levels came back at .202 and .205, both of which are well above Florida’s .08 limit.

This was Uso’s third alcohol-related arrest since 2019. Taken in for a drunken confrontation with police officers in Detroit that February, he then faced DUI charges (for which he was ultimately found not guilty) following an incident that took place that July.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer tweeted after the news broke, stating that at the time of writing, there had been no internal fallout in WWE, with the company set to make a decision on the matter “soon.”

WWE has not yet issued a statement on Uso’s latest DUI.

WWE star Jimmy Uso will be out for 6 to 9 months with a knee injury, according to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

It’s believed that the knee injury happened during the triple threat ladder match at WrestleMania 36John Morrison ended up winning the WrestleMania match and retaining the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

The Usos returned to SmackDown in January after being gone for a while due to Jimmy’s July 2019 DUI arrest. As noted in December, Jimmy ended up being found not guilty for the misdemeanor DUI charge.
