Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose agreed to a two-year contract worth $6.5-million with the Memphis Grizzlies, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The deal is fully guaranteed, sources told Charania,
Rose played collegiately for the Memphis Tigers before being drafted first overall in 2008.
The Grizzlies want Rose to be a leader in the locker room but also see time on the court, Wojnarowski adds.
Rose averaged 5.6 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in 27 games for the New York Knicks last season.
The 34-year-old fills the hole at point guard following Ja Morant’s 25-game suspension. Memphis also acquired former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics but moved Tyus Jones in the trade.
