The Toronto Maple Leafs shored up their depth on the blue line by inking defensemen Victor Mete and Jordie Benn to matching one-year deals worth $750,000 on Thursday.

Mete, 24, became an unrestricted free agent after the Ottawa Senators decided not to tender him a qualifying offer.

The 5-foot-9 Ontario native logged seven assists in 37 games with the Senators this past season while averaging 14:37 per contest.

Selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round of the 2016 draft, Mete has 43 points in 236 career contests.

Benn, 34, spent the 2021-22 season with the Minnesota Wild, putting up one goal and seven assists in 39 games while playing about 15 minutes a night.

A veteran of 595 NHL games, the 6-foot-2 Benn has also suited up for the Dallas Stars, Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, and Winnipeg Jets, amassing 135 points.

The Minnesota Wild signed defenseman Jordie Benn to a one-year contract worth $900,000, the team announced Friday.

Benn spent last season with the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks. The 34-year-old collected one goal and nine assists in 39 games while also blocking 51 shots.

The blue-liner is a veteran of 556 career games, scoring 24 goals and adding 103 assists. Benn’s also managed 670 hits and 908 blocked shots.

The Vancouver Canucks have traded defenseman Jordie Benn to the Winnipeg Jets for a 2021 sixth-round draft pick, the teams announced Monday.

Benn, 33, is a pending unrestricted free agent and carries a $2-million cap hit. He has nine points in 31 games while averaging just under 15 minutes of ice time per contest this season and has 126 points in 548 career games.

The Jets were widely expected to shore up their blue line ahead of Monday’s trade deadline. Winnipeg currently sits second in the North Division with 53 points.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Jordie Benn to a two-year, $4-million deal, the team announced Monday.

Benn, 31, is a native of Victoria, British Columbia and played most of his junior career with the BCHL’s Victoria Grizzlies.

He spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens and registered 22 points in 81 games. The veteran will bring grit to the Cancuks’ blue line, but he was also a positive possession player last season, posting a 53.4 Corsi For percentage.

Benn’s signing will mark the club’s second addition on the back end after reportedlyagreeing to a deal with Tyler Myers earlier Monday.
