WWE has filed a new trademark for the name “Taboo Tuesday”, fueling speculation that the erstwhile pay-per-view could be set for a return to the company’s event calendar (via 411mania).

The show – which, in its original iteration, allowed fans to decide match stipulations and title challengers via an online vote – was last held in 2005, after debuting the previous year.

It was then replaced in 2006 by “Cyber Sunday”, making use of the same concept, which ran for a further three years.

The pay-per-view was then scrapped thereafter as WWE began to introduce gimmick match-centered shows (such as Hell in a Cell and TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs) instead.

But the news that the company has once again put down a marker on the name has sparked rumours that the show – which was generally held in October – could now be re-introduced.

Increasingly, the non-“Big Four” events are now being packaged with themes that differentiate them from ostensibly more generic shows.

And one that allows fans (or perhaps merely network subscribers) to have a say in the booking of the card could be a welcome addition.
