Taking place on July 23rd, Battleground 2017 is WWE’s next SmackDown-branded pay-per-view, and will play host to the company’s first Punjabi Prison match since 2007.

Randy Orton was granted a rematch with WWE Champion Jinder Mahal on last night’s show, on the grounds that ‘The Modern Day Maharaja’ got to pick the stipulation. Jinder went with the Punjabi Prison, and the pay-per-view main event is now confirmed.

First seen at the 2006 Great American Bash, the stipulation sees the ring enclosed by two separate bamboo cages. The inner structure has a small door on all four sides, each of which may be opened once at the wrestlers’ request. The top of both cages will be fashioned into “razor-sharp spikes,” and in order to win, a wrestler must exit the outer structure with both feet touching the arena floor.
