There were worries for Leon ‘Vader’ White at a special anniversary show in Japan yesterday, because the big man collapsed shortly after a six-man tag-team match he was involved in; teaming with Keiji Muto and AKIRA to face Shiro Koshinaka, Riki Choshu and Tatsumi Fujinami, the ex-WCW World Champion appeared to faint following the bout.

Put on to celebrate Fujinami’s 45th anniversary as a pro wrestler, the match almost ended in disaster when Vader lost consciousness. Coming to and leaving the ring of his own volition, the veteran also later attended a party put on by his peers to honour Fujinami’s accomplishments, and explained on Twitter that he had simply been dropped on his head at the start of the match.

Diagnosed with congestive heart failure last November, Vader was told by one doctor that he has just two years to live, but other medical opinions have been more positive.

Nonetheless, those in attendance for the anniversary show were worried when Vader fell to one knee and clutched his chest. Initial reports suggested dehydration as the cause, but Vader himself claimed the opening spot of the match with Fujinami resulted in a nasty head bump.
