Miami Marlins president David Samson isn’t feeling optimistic about the team’s current ownership.

With rumors swirling in the offseason about owner Jeffrey Loria looking to sell the team, the Marlins executive revealed he wouldn’t be taken aback if he was employed by new management in 2017.

“It would not shock me,” Samson told Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

Differing reports have surfaced recently regarding potential buyers if Loria does decide to put the team up for sale. In March, it was reported that the owner had a “handshake agreement” in place to sell the team to a New York real estate developer for $1.6 billion, though that deal never came to fruition.

Earlier this month, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter emerged as another name with potential interest in buying the Florida club.
