NFL: Miami Dolphins-Training Camp

Now in his mid-thirties, Cameron Wake is showing no signs of slowing down, and he has a new contract to show for it.

The Miami Dolphins have signed the star defensive end to an extension that runs through the 2018 season, the team announced Saturday.

Wake signed a contract last season that had him scheduled for free agency at the end of the 2017 campaign, so the latest agreement appears to amend the initial terms while tacking on another season.

Wake’s new extension amounts to a two-year contract worth $19 million, including $11 million in guarantees, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Immediately returning to form after having his 2015 season cut short by a ruptured Achilles, Wake tallied a team-high 11.5 sacks across 16 regular-season games.

The 35-year-old’s rise to dominance stands as one of the NFL’s best stories, as he now has 81.5 sacks and five Pro Bowl appearances on his resume since making the transition from the CFL back in 2009.
