Having witnessed everything the rest of the football world saw during Ezekiel Elliott‘s rookie season, DeMarco Murray also seems to be coming away every bit as impressed.

Asked about the Dallas Cowboys‘ single-season rushing record he set back in 2014, the Tennessee Titans running back said it’s only a matter of time before Elliott surpasses him.

“Nah, he’ll get it someday. He’ll get it someday,” Murray said, according to Conor Orr of “That ain’t gonna last too long … ”

“He’s a tough guy. A tough guy. As running backs we’re supposed to run the ball but I’m really impressed with his catching ability and blocking. Those are two things for me, where I got a lot of respect for him.”

Murray bested Emmitt Smith’s long-standing franchise mark with 1,845 yards before moving on to join the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 and landing with the Titans in a trade this past year.

Despite sitting out Week 17 to rest for the playoffs, Elliott finished his debut season with 1,631 yards to lead the league by a wide margin.

If the instant production can be taken as any indication, falling 177 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s all-time rookie record, perhaps Murray is correct to suggest that Elliott is only just getting started.
